First paragliding flight from the summit of K2

Our NEO ambassador, Jean-Yves Fredriksen, aka “Blutch”, is off on a new adventure in Pakistan. With the aim of realizing one of his dreams: to climb K2 and take off from the summit – a first! All in “alpine” style, i.e. without oxygen, sherpas or intermediate camps.

NEO at the summit of K2, 8611 m above sea level!

After achieving numerous feats around the world, including the first and only complete crossing of the Himalayas by paraglider, Blutch has set himself a new challenge, which in reality is a double challenge. In fact, he has set himself the goal of climbing the world’s second-highest peak, K2, at 8,611 m, and taking off from there by paraglider!

A true pioneer of paralpinism, he would once again make history as the first person to take off from K2.

NEO continues to support Blutch and will be part of the adventure. Jean-Yves will be using a NEO harness, le String 3, and a NEO backpack, the Mountain K2, specially developed for this expedition dedicated to flying from the summit of K2!

This type of ascent to reach the summit at an altitude of over 8,000 m means meeting the extreme requirements of the very highest mountains. Our unique know-how in the design and manufacture of paragliding and outdoor equipment has led to the creation of a minimalist, tailor-made technical backpack: the Mountain K2. A veritable condensation of technology, both ultra-light and robust, it is designed to make the final ascent (from base camp to summit) before extracting itself from the mountain by the air.
