Dyneema Umbrella

The umbrella made of paragliding fabric from the innovative collaboration between Le parapluie de Cherbourg and NEO.

The brilliant idea of creating an umbrella made of paragliding fabric is not only fanciful, it allows making an umbrella that is out of the ordinary The Dyneema fabric used by NEO in their paragliding gear and backpacks makes the umbrella more robust and therefore more durable, while remaining light. Dyneema is a super-strong and ultra-light fiber: it is 15 times stronger than steel and 30 to 40% lighter than Kevlar, for the same strength. In addition, Dyneema is very resistant against UV, humidity, chemicals, and abrasion, which is perfect for an umbrella.

The Voyageur model by Parapluie de Cherbourg is practical. A retractable, automatic travel umbrella for real comfort, it accompanies and protects you wherever you go while taking up minimal space. It is designed to fold up for easier transport in your NEO day or travel backpack.

MADE IN FRANCE

The umbrella made of Teppanyaki fabric is the result of the collaboration between NEO and Le Parapluie de Cherbourg. The combination of the excellent know-how specific to each of the two brands has made it possible to create a unique, timeless and durable product. Handmade at la Manufacture des Parapluies de Cherbourg in Cherbourg, France.

Two worlds of French know-how in one product

The Manufacture of the Le Parapluie de Cherbourg is the vibrant heart of this beautiful 100% French adventure. The men and women who work here are passionate about their art and love a job well done. Quality craftsmen who have succeeded in perpetuating exceptional French know-how, they expertly design unique creations, synonymous with strength and elegance. The collaboration with NEO is, first of all, a human collaboration, a shared curiosity of discovering skills and a mutual admiration for good products. This is how we realized that our Dyneema Teppanyaki fabric, used for our paragliding gear, had all the necessary advantages to make an extraordinary umbrella. The collaboration between both companies was therefore natural, motivated by the passion of creating unique objects.

The Teppanyaki fabric is the result of the collaboration between the Catalan textile company IBQ and NEO, and was developped specifically for paragliding. The technical collaboration between the textile manufacturer IBQ and NEO has made it possible to develop a Ripstop Dyneema, high-tenacity Polyamide based Ripstop Dyneema fabric with Polyurethane coating. This highly technical fabric, together with aluminum fittings, meets the characteristics needed for hyper technical lightweight products intended for paragliding and outdoor sports:

– Highly resistant to tear and abrasion
– Little elongation
– No deformation
– Resistant to dirt and washable
– Very light
– Best compromise between durability and lightness
